Analysing Advertisements: Ben Howard

The information that is on this advert is as minimal as possible. It includes the name of the artist, which is written exactly the same as it is on his album cover. This is used as a marketing technique, so that fans recognise it more easily. It also says the date that the album is being released. This is obviously vital as this is the purpose for this advert.
I think that there are some pros and cons with using the same album design for an advertisement. The advantages are that readers and viewers know exactly who and what it is-it is a good marketing strategy. It also makes the artist more memorable, as people see it more often. However, the disadvantages are that it is not very unique. I think that an interesting, eye-catching advertisement is just as effective, as it gives the readers something new and different to be interested in, therefore, it is more likely that it would catch their attention.
The title of "Every Kingdom" links to the image of the ocean in the background. It doesn't necessarily link to the genre, however, its a random image and links with the indie genre.
This advert could also include some of the hit singles that the album includes, to make the audience more aware of the product. This could also interest more readers that perhaps no the hit singles, but not the other songs on the album.
It could also include where to pre-order your copy- for example on amazon or iTunes. Some logos of social networks such as Twitter and Facebook may be useful to remind the audience of other ways to get involved with the album.
