Analysing Digipack: The Kooks

This is the digipack for the band 'The Kooks'.There genre has been described as a mix, including rock, britrock and pop. The image shows the digipack and the CD with a theme of red black and white. These colours are conventionally associated with the genre of rock. The red stands out against the monochrome background and therefore is eye-catching.  The front of the digipack is the same as the back, showing the band in a black and white image. The use of props is limited, with just two guitars, and it is made to look like they are in the middle of a song writing session. This presents the typical indie ethos of raw talent and individual style.  The back of the digipack contains the necessary information, for example, the names of the songs on the album, as well as the information about the producer, editor and other people who helped collaborate the album.

FRONT COVER
The text with which the album is made from is the same for tall the different panels of the album cover. This is to show cohesiveness and consistency. The font is simple and legible, and this suggests that 'The Kooks' are quite a simplistic band that are not interested in mainstream.Overall, their image that they have created is a authentic British Indie band, which would appeal to their target market.
The simple background allows the audience to focus particular attention on the band and the band name.
There is no eye contact to the audience by the artist in the main image. This suggests that they are engrossed in their music. This proposes them as a dedicated band towards music and are not arrogant about their work.

BACK COVER
The same font and image is presented on the back cover, which suggests consistency. However, it is far more pixilated and blurred and it has been taken from a different perspective. This suggests that they are giving the consumers a valid insight in to the private life of the back. Whats more, the list of the songs is quite small and this suggests that yet again, they are not arrogant or boasting about their talent, and that they are not mainstream, The fact that the songs are in black and fits with the colour theme suggests that they are their songs and they wrote them themselves.

INSIDE THE DIGIPACK
In the top hand corner of the right hand side there is another copyright notice, which is valid on almost all of the digipacks that I have evaluated so far. A thank you note is also presented, and this presents the band as thankful and polite, which a lot of their target market may be surprised abut and find appealing.
The CD is red with black and white writing and this immediate contrast would attract the consumers attention.
